Former super middleweight champion Carl Froch sat ringside on Saturday night at Sheffield Arena, and watched middleweight prospect Chris Eubank Jr. (20-1, 15KOs) demolish overmatched Tony Jeter in two rounds.
Eubank's next bout is against Gary 'Spike' O'Sullivan (22-1, 15KOs) on December 12th at the O2 Arena in London. O'Sullivan has promised to knock Eubank out.
Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport has revealed that Eubank-O'Sullivan will be a final WBA eliminator. The winner becomes the mandatory challenger to December's battler between WBA 'regular' middleweight champion Danny Jacobs and top contender Peter Quillin.
Froch, who worked the televised broadcast for Sky Sports, was impressed with Eubank's show of skill.
He feels O'Sullivan, although packing a dangerous punch, is on the level of a domestic fighter. Froch places Eubank Jr. in a higher category of skill.
"I think Eubank Jr is different class to Spike O'Sullivan," Froch told Sky Sports. "Spike is probably a domestic level fighter, but it's how Eubank dispatches him. I don't mind calling it, because I have sparred with him.
"But Spike is a bit of a showman himself. He means business and he bangs a bit. It's set up for a really exciting fight."
