Alexander Frenkel bids for Enzo Maccarinelli’s EBU cruiserweight title at the LG Arena, Birmingham on September the 18th and the Germany-based fighter is ridiculously relaxed ahead of the encounter.
“I don’t care about the name of my opponent – all that matters to me is the title that is on the line,” declared Frenkel when speaking to www.frankwarren.tv. “For me every fight is the most important fight of my career. I have never been to England before so I am really keen to go there to win my fight and see a bit of the country. I am looking forward to it.”
Frenkel has forged an unbeaten, 22-0 (17), record yet he will be boxing out of Germany for the first time in his career. His last fight, an eight-round points win over Michael Simms, took place in March; the 25-year-old, 6’ 1’’ fighter previously won the IBF Youth cruiserweight title by knocking out Corey Phelps in a single stanza in May 2008; the Ukraine-born fighter has done everything asked of him in his career thus far.
Enzo, who has held WBU and WBO titles, won the EBU title by blasting out Alexander Kotlobay in a solitary session back in April; ‘Big Mac’ travelled to the Russian’s backyard for that one and will be hoping to put on a show for his home fans come September the 18th.
