A few days ago, BoxingScene.com reported that former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32KOs) was looking to have Freddie Roach return to his corner.

Chavez had trained with Roach for some of his best performances. The boxer left Roach last year after breaking away from promoter Top Rank and signing with manager Al Haymon.

Chavez's father, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., told reporters in Mexico that his son wanted Roach back in the corner as the Mexican star is nearing a possible title fight against WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack.

Chavez then trained with Joe Goossen for one bout and then with Robert Garcia for one. Right now he is recovering from a hand injury.

"If Junior is ready to train the same way he did in the first three fights that he worked with me, I'm ready. I would love to train him again," said Roach to Rigo Cervantez.

"He is my friend. I wish him well, and I would like to see him working harder in the gym. One time I was preparing him for a fight and he only showed up for work five times in a month."
