Trainer Freddie Roach told Gareth Davies of The Telegraph that Amir Khan has to inflict damage on Marcos Maidana this Saturday at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Khan and Roach are looking to get a knockout in the late rounds. Roach is confident Maidana will not last the distance. He admits Maidana is very dangerous when hurt, but he's not worried about the end result.

“When Maidana is hurt, he’s dangerous, but I’m not worried about this guy to be honest. We have a good game plan, and Amir is too talented. We have to hurt him, but be smart about it,” Roach said.

Khan, defending his WBA junior welterweight title for the third time, has put his entire trust in Roach's plan. He says Maidana will not be able to deal with his speed, boxing ability, and punching power.

“I totally trust what Freddie tells me, and I follow it. I have absolute faith in him,” Khan said.
