Birmingham’s Frankie Gavin is working hard in the gym ahead of his next fight, which will take place on the undercard of the British title showdown between Tony Quigley versus Paul Smith on the 30th of October. It will be Gavin’s first professional fight in Liverpool and the bubbly Brummie has told the BBC that he is looking forward to it.
“I've been doing a lot of footwork and head movement in training and the power's coming,” said Gavin. “I'm learning new combinations and how to relax and pick the right punches. I'm getting stronger with every fight.”
“I've had a good break but it's been hard this week (in training) and it's going to get harder every week before the fight,” he continued.
“I've been doing a 40-minute run every night and soon it'll be an hour. I've been doing loads of padwork, learning combinations and executing them in the fight. I'm working on relaxing, picking my shots and using my movement to make them miss before making them pay with something big.”
Gavin is 3-0 (3) as a pro, he impressed against Graham Fearn at the MEN in June. More of the same at Liverpool’s Echo Arena will gain the former Amateur World Champion a few more fans.
