BoxingScene.com was informed that junior welterweight contender Frankie "El Gato" Figueroa (19-2, 13KOs) has signed a promotional deal with Square Ring. Figueroa, unbeaten since 2004, was having some major issues promoter Yaseen Malnki. An agreement was worked out for Figueroa to come over to Square Ring, owned by Roy Jones Jr.

Figueroa is tentatively scheduled to appear on the pay-per-view undercard to Jones vs. Joe Calzaghe on November 8 in New York's Madison Square Garden. Depending on the secured opponent, don't be surprised if Figueroa is bumped up to the co-feature position with Dmitriy Salita vs. Willie Limond being placed in the third-tier spot.
