Frank Warren, promoter for Liam Williams, believes his man would create a lot of problems for WBO middleweight world champion Demetrius Andrade.

Andrade returned to the ring on Thursday night in Miami, and stopped voluntary challenger Luke Keeler in nine rounds. Keeler was down twice in the fight.

At the moment, Jaime Munguia has the top position under the WBO's rankings.

He received the spot, as part of the WBO's rules, because he was the junior middleweight champion and decided to move up in weight.

There are doubts that Munguia will face someone like Andrade any time soon. He recently made his middleweight debut with a knockout of Spike O'Sullivan.

"Liam Williams is ready and waiting for his shot at the WBO middleweight title. Champion Demetrius Andrade easily dealt with Luke Keeler over in Miami in the early hours of Friday morning," Warren told Daily Star.

"The American now has to face Mexican Jaime Munguia with a deal needing to be agreed in the next 120 days for that fight. That’s because Munguia has been given special treatment as he was the WBO champion at light middleweight. But should they fail to reach a deal then the Welsh warrior will be ready to step up and take his shot. If not we will have to wait patiently for our chance.

"And I know Williams will take it when he gets it. The Clydach Vale man is no kid as he has already had a shot at the interim light-middleweight crown. But he has become a better fighter now at middleweight and will take his next world title chance. The Welshman won the British title and has moved up to world level with his superb stoppage victory over Alantez Fox just before Christmas. Looking at Andrade in the early hours of Friday in Miami, Williams could cause him all sorts of problems.

"And, at 27, he is still improving all the time under trainer Dom Ingle in Sheffield. Williams has been a professional since 2011 so has a great grounding in the sport but is now making the improvements to turn him into a world champion. He should get his chance to prove his quality in 2020."
