British Olympian Frankie Gavin, the first British fighter to win a world amateur title, is also the first British Olympian to go pro, signing a reported three-year deal with promoter Frank Warren. Gavin plans to campaign at junior welterweight and will have his interests represented by attorney Gareth Williams, who already represents both Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe. Gavin was forced out of the Olympic Games in Beijing after he failed to make the weight, for lightweight.

According to The Telegraph, Warren beat out another promotional company that made a strong play for the fighter - Golden Boy Promotions. The reports says that Gavin went with his home turf instead of signing with a promoter outside of the country.
