British boxing promoter Frank Warren is not buying the stories put out by Golden Boy Promotions. Warren used to promote WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan and handled every one of his fights as a pro. Until now. Khan left Warren and signed with Golden Boy to further his career in the United States.

Warren says Golden Boy is avoiding the fight between Khan and Marcos Maidana. Golden Boy doesn't think Maidana is a big enough name in the United States to make the fight with Khan matter to the casual fans. Warren doesn't buy their story. He thinks Khan's career is being handled by the wrong people.

“They are saying Maidana is not well known enough in the States but Amir is not known in the States. In his last fight, Maidana knocked out Victor Ortiz, Golden Boy’s golden boy, and that tells you something. They are doing this to avoid fighting Maidana. I don’t know whether Golden Boy will develop Amir. Amir needs to be in better hands," Warren told Daily Express.
