In his recent "Frankly Speaking" column, promoter Frank Warren gave his thoughts on the ongoing revelations with the much-talked about split between Ricky Hatton (formerly promoted by Warren) and long-time trainer Billy Graham.
For anyone following the situation, Hatton recently cut his ties with Graham, who trained him since the start of his pro career. When the split was first reported, Hatton's camp told reporters that all of them were shocked when Graham unexpectedly announced his retirement. Graham, a few days later, would reveal that he retired after Ricky fired him during a meeting between the two. Hatton has recently spoke out and said the split was agreed upon between the two because of Graham's physical condition.
"If he (Graham) thinks anything of me, he'll have a good look in the mirror and admit 'I'm falling to bits. I'm physically done'," said Hatton to media members.
Warren feels that Hatton focus on his own health and retire along with Graham.
"Ricky Hatton says his split with Billy Graham was amicable, but Graham says he was sacked. This week Hatton tried to justify the decision by saying that Graham wasn't well enough to continue in the corner," Warren said. "Perhaps Ricky should look in that same mirror and admit the same things. He should join Billy Graham in retirement."
