Frank Warren, promoter for middleweight contender Liam Williams, is hoping to bring his mandatory fight with WBO world champion Demetrius Andrade to the UK.

Andrade is promoted by Warren's bitter promotional rival, Eddie Hearn, who will likely want to stage the fight in the United States.

Since suffering back to back defeats at the hands of Liam Smith, Williams has regrouped and won his last six fights - all by knockout. Back in December, Williams stopped Alantez Fox in the fifth round of a WBO final eliminator.

The fight was scheduled for a purse bid, but right now everything was pushed back due to the cornavirus pandemic.

Andrade last fought in January, when he battered and stopped Luke Keeler in the ninth round of action.

"The WBO have also ordered our man Liam Williams as mandatory for middleweight ruler Demetrius Andrade. Purse bids were supposed to be this week, but that’s all been pushed back a couple of weeks. Again, it’s a case of wait and see what happens," Warren told Talk Sport.

"I’d like to bring that fight to the UK. We’ve got Liam into a great position, he’s in a good spot at the moment, so we’ve gotta make sure he gets his shot. I think he has the beating of Andrade.

"No one knows anything at the moment, we all live in hope that this all settles down soon and we get back to some sort of normality so we can start getting these fights away."
