Undefeated Cuban heavyweight Frank Sanchez is hoping to secure a future crack at WBO, IBF, WBA, IBF world champion Anthony Joshua in the near future, according to the boxer's manager Mike Borao.

Sanchez is promoted by Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions.

The Cuban fighter is ranked within the WBO's top ten and wants to work his way up to a mandatory title shot at the WBO world title, which is still around the waist of Joshua.

At the moment, the WBO's mandatory challenger is Oleksandr Usyk, who hopes to fight Joshua before the year is over or in early 2021.

Joshua is slated to make a mandatory defense against the IBF's top challenger, Kubrat Pulev, in the month of July - but that scenario is tentative as the coronavirus pandemic continues to play out.

Sanchez, 27-years-old, was in action last month when he dominated Joey Dawejko for a unanimous decision at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

But Borao believes Joshua might bypass Usyk and vacate the WBO title - leading to a situation where Usyk will face one of the leading contenders for the vacant title.

Bora says his man is willing to take a final eliminator against any of the WBO's top contenders, including undefeated Junior Fa or once-beaten Michael Hunter.

"Just a guess, but I think Usyk ends up winning a vacated WBO heavyweight title within the next 12 months," Borao told Sky Sports.

"Frank is in good position to fight for the WBO championship, in the event that occurs. I believe Frank Sanchez versus WBO No 6 Junior Fa or No 7 Michael Hunter would make sense. Once the boxing world gets back on track, we will try and face one of those younger, top 10 type guys in order to solidify a world title opportunity."
