At the Joondalup Arena in Joondalup, Western Australia, unheralded Frank LoPorto (13-4-2, 5KOs) upset experienced Daniel Dawson (34-3, 24KOs) to win a twelve round decision and the vacant PABA light middleweight title. Dawson was trying to get his career back on track after getting knocked out by WBO champion Sergio Dzinziruk in the month of May. This presents a serious setback for the career of Dawson.
