After a near 5-year layoff, former IBF heavyweight champion Francois "White Buffalo" Botha (45-4-2) has announced that he is returning to the ring on July 6 in Hammanskraal, near Pretoria.

According to Super Boxing, a South African media outlet, Botha, 39, is making a comeback because the heavyweight division is so weak. Botha's last bout was a draw with Clifford "Black Rhino" Etienne in July of 2002. Botha will battle an opponent that has yet to be announced for a vacant a heavyweight title from a sanctioning body known as the WBF.

Botha has fought and lost to Michael Moorer, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko.
