The Board of Governors of the World Boxing Council issued an order on Wednesday at the ongoing convention in Kiev, Ukraine - and that order directs a qualifying match at 130 pounds between world ranked number two, Francisco 'Bandido' Vargas and the third seed in the rankings, Eduardo 'Rocky' Hernandez.
Now the period of free negotiations between Promociones del Pueblo (who guide the career of Hernandez) and Golden Boy Promotions ( who handle Vargas) is starting, with both sides told to reach a deal for this war of Mexican punchers.
Vargas (25-1-2, 18 KOs) is a man of experience, as he was already a world champion in the super featherweight division; He has faced the likes of Miguel Berchelt, Orlando Salido, Takashi Miura and Juanma Lopez; besides having represented Mexico in Olympic Games of Beijing in 2008.
On the other side, Hernandez (26-0, 23 KO's) has the advantage of youth and drive; for his 20 year old rising contender has won the world junior and Latino titles of the World Boxing Council; facing the likes Dominican Marlyn Cabrera, Venezuelan Rafael Hernandez, and former world champion Victor "Viking" Terrazas; accumulating a run of 20 consecutive knockouts in his most recent series of fights.
Emotions in this clash of Mexican warriors are guaranteed; and it is only a matter of time to know the date and venue for the explosive battle between the capital boxers.
The winner will secure the right to be the official title challenger for the winner of the bout taking place this November 3, when the current world champion Miguel Berchelt will defend his belt against mandatory challenger Miguel 'Micky 'Roman, in El Paso, Texas.
