Francisco "Bandido" Vargas is preparing for war as he goes up against Japan's WBC super featherweight champion Takashi Miura, on November 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

The fight is part of the Miguel Cotto vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez HBO Pay-Per-View undercard.

"Bandido" (22-0-1, 16 KOs) is not worried by the moniker that Miura (29-2-2, 22 KO) has received, as being the slayer of Mexican fighters. Miura has thoroughly beaten Gamaliel Díaz, Sergio Thompson, Dante Jardón and Edgar Puerta.

Vargas has promised to end that streak, by ending his Miura's rule of the division and returning that world title back to Mexico.

He says his countrymen did not look very good against the champion. Vargas wants to make a statement here and says he will look a lot better than his fallen comrades.

"I'm excited and happy for this moment. I think that I've worked hard to get this opportunity. I know that the champion is strong, he is a solid fighter, but I'm very motivated. I want to be champion and we are making a great preparation. I'm going in there with a winning mentality. I know that I have to come in very good shape, with strength, skill and intelligence," Vargas told Fox Deportes.

"The streak of defeating Mexicans is a bonus. I know that if I win it, everyone will look to me as the one who ended his streak of victories over us. Now he faces another [Mexican], one who is being prepared thoroughly. I think the Mexicans that he faced were not at their best. They looked much better prior to facing Miura. But I'm focusing on myself."
