It's almost a guarantee that a good fight will break out at the StubHub Center on June 4th, when Francisco Vargas defends his WBC 130-pound title versus Orlando Salido. Both Mexicans have a history of making memorable fights and their styles seem to mesh incredibly well.
"I just expect a great fight, we're both going to the middle of the ring and throw punches. Because of our styles it's going to be a great fight,"said Salido through publicist Ricardo Jimenez.
Salido (43-13-3, 30KOs), who has won major titles at both featherweight and junior lightweight, added,"I look at his style, I look at my style, how can it miss? We're willing to engage at anytime, anywhere."
Vargas (23-0-1, 17KOs), who is coming off the 2015 'Fight of the Year', where he dramatically halted Takashi Miura in nine rounds back on November 21st is very respectful of his Mexican colleague.
"He's a fighter with a lot of experience, has some great, outstanding 'Fight of the Year' candidates and just a guy who's also been a world champion several times. He's just a tough, durable opponent," he said through his manager, Ralph Heredia.
At some point, boxing will be thrown out the window and a brawl will commence.
"Without a doubt," agreed Vargas,''there's going to be a time and moment where we're going to engage and it's going to be a war."
