WBC super featherweight champion Francisco Vargas is looking good in his recent testing results from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA, for its acronym in English), according to Golden Boy Promotions Vice President Eric Gomez.

There was some trouble which placed his upcoming fight in doubt, when Vargas came positive in a VADA test for clenbuterol. That test took place on April 21.

Vargas will defend his belt against former world champion Orlando Salido on June 4 at the StubHub Center in California.

Since the positive test, Vargas has been visited four times by representatives of VADA. The results have come back for two of those testing sessions, and both of them showed no trace of clenbuterol.

When the incident took place, Golden Boy Promotions urged the California State Athletic Commission to allow Vargas to move forward with the fight. Golden Boy told the commission that Vargas had come up positive due to ingesting contaminated meat back in Mexico. The CSAC allowed the fight to go forward, but they are watching Vargas' test results very closely. Another positive test would cause the fight to get cancelled.

"The agreement we made with the commission is that they would [allow him to fight], and if he fails another test then they will remove his license. Since they found that (clenbuterol), they have done 4 tests in 10 days and they will continue to test until the fight," Gomez told ESPN Deportes.

"This confirms the theory of contaminated meat, because they sent over the results of two tests and he is clean, it is out of his system. I think that was the problem."
