Francisco De Vaca stopped Gustavo Molina in the eighth and final round late Friday night at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Ariz.
It was De Vaca's first knockout after eight consecutive decision wins. De Vaca improves to 15-0, 5 KOs, while Molina drops to 22-12, 9 KOs.
De Vaca was the more accurate puncher of the two. As the bout progressed, De Vaca's punches began taking their toll in the later rounds and a barrage of punches ended up dropping Molina in the eighth round.
Molina did his best to hold on, but he was taking significant punishment that prompted referee Dennis O'Connell to stop the bout at 2:49.
Junior welterweight Abel Ramos dropped Dario Ferman in the fifth round, eventually getting the stoppage win later in the round. Ramos improves to 16-1-2, 11 KOs, while Ferman (13-1, 10 KOs) loses his first fight as a pro.
Junior middleweight Danny Valdivia (11-0, 9 KOs) used his strength and seven-inch height advantage to rain punches down on Miguel Munguia, dropping him to the canvas and getting the stoppage win in the opening round.
Referee Richard Soto saw enough and stopped the bout at 2:06.
Iron Boy Boxing promoted the card and will put on another card at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix in July.
