Featherweight Francisco De Vaca remained unbeaten Saturday night, defeating Victor Proa by unanimous decision over 10 rounds at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix.
De Vaca, who resides in the Phoenix area, improves to 17-0, 5 KO. Proa drops to 28-4-2, 21 KOs.
Saturday night marked the first time in about a year De Vaca fought. In that fight, De Vaca won by a one-sided decision over Jose Estrella.
Proa, who hails from the boxing hotbed of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, has lost his last three bouts.
Both fighters landed low and it took until about the third round before referee Wes Melton to warn both De Vaca and Proa to keep their punches up.
The taller De Vaca rained down punches onto Proa, who did well in spots during the fight. De Vaca was consistent in landing combinations and countering Proa's offense.
Scores were 97-93, 99-91, and 100-90 for De Vaca, who is trained by Roberto Alcazar.
Bantamweights Edgar Ortiz (5-1-1, with 3 KOs) and Manuel Manzo (0-5-1) fought to a draw over four rounds in a bout where Manzo looked as though he should have won.
Featherweight Jesus Jimenez (2-0, with 1 KO) stopped Erick Jimenez (0-4) in the opening round.
Iron Boy Boxing promoted the card.
