Hosea Burton will have his talents showcased on a big stage in the near future.
The undefeated light heavyweight, 27, has been confirmed as one of the Matchroom fighters to feature at the Manchester Arena on February 27, live and exclusive on Sky Sports Box Office.
Burton (14-0, 5 KOs), who was born in Newcastle but trains under Joe Gallagher in Bolton, has had a rotten run of luck with fights in recent months but could now be set for a change in fortunes on the same bill as his gym-mate Scott Quigg, who faces Belfast’s Carl Frampton in a super bantamweight world title unification clash.
‘The Hammer’ was scheduled to fight Tony Hill for the vacant WBA International title last November –– just two months after 24 hours of uncertainty ahead of a display in Liverpool –– but was forced to withdraw three days before with an elbow injury.
Now fully-recovered, he is expected to use next month’s fight –– which is set against an opponent to be named –– to break into the mainstream consciousness as he looks to push onto major domestic honours.
Boxing Scene understands that another gym-mate of Burton and Quigg, Marcus Morrison (8-0, 5 KOs), is also expected to be named as part of the undercard to the big 122-pound showdown.
