Isaac Lowe is expected to feature on the undercard of one of the biggest UK-Ireland clashes in some time next month.
The English featherweight champion, who clung to his title by the skin of his teeth against Ryan Doyle (11-1-1, 6 KOs) at the Manchester Arena in November, was name dropped to appear at the same venue, with his fight potentially being aired exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office.
Lowe (11-0-1, 4 KOs) will be an attraction as part of the supporting cast to the super bantamweight world title unification showdown between Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg.
Sky Sports’ executive director of boxing, Adam Smith, revealed the news, live on Sky Sports News HQ, when confirming that the big 122-pound clash would be part of the premier sports broadcaster’s pay-per-view format.
He said: “I think Isaac Lowe is on [the card] in a Commonwealth title fight.”
And Boxing Scene understands that the fight has been given the go-ahead after Josh Warrington, the current title holder, agreed to relinquish the belt in order to allow 21-year-old Morecambe man Lowe to come up against Irish talent Marco McCullough for the vacant prize on February 27.
McCullough (14-2, 9 KOs) holds the WBO European title at 126lbs and is on a two-fight winning streak since being halted by Zoltan Kovacs in 102 seconds in Germany in July last year.
The 26-year-old is the only active featherweight in Ireland and has been mooted as a potential Cyclone Promotions fighter to get a slot on the big card.
