El Paso, Texas - A British super-fight between bantamweight champions Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg is possibly in jeopardy.

Both fighters were in action on Saturday night. In Manchester, WBA 'regular' champion Quigg got the biggest win of his career when he crushed former champion Kiko Martinez in two rounds. Across the ocean in Texas, Frampton was dropped twice in the first round before coming back to dominate the action against Alejandro Gonzalez for a twelve round decision win.

Frampton (21-0, 14 KOs) revealed afterwards that he really struggled to make the division limit of 122-pounds and a move to featherweight might be in order.

Quigg's promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom, was hoping to get a deal together for Frampton. He has a very good relationship with Frampton's new adviser, Al Haymon. A move to 126 by Frampton would put the brakes on that.

"I don't want to seem like I'm making excuses. Alejandro is a very good fighter. I'm not going to get into numbers, but I had to take a lot of weight off on the day of the weigh-in. Too much [weight], more than ever...so we have to reevaluate whether I stay at super bantamweight or move up to featherweight," Frampton told BoxingScene.com.
