Carl Frampton isn’t overly concerned about how his rematch against Leo Santa Cruz will be judged Saturday night.

Northern Ireland’s Frampton will make his Las Vegas debut when he defends his WBA world featherweight title for the first time against Santa Cruz. But his first two experiences in the United States went well, thus the undefeated Frampton feels he has no reason to worry whether he’ll be judged fairly in their 12-round rematch (Showtime).

“No, I don’t think you can,” Frampton said during a conference call last week. “If I approach a fight and go into a fight thinking about them sort of things, then it’s not the right frame of mind and the right attitude to take into it.

“And I’m just hoping and I’m pretty confident that the judging will be fair. And I feel like it was fair in New York. It was a very exciting fight, and I’m just hoping that we get the same out here in Las Vegas. And I’m confident we will.”

Frampton defeated Santa Cruz by majority decision in their first fight.

Two judges – Tom Schreck (117-111) and Frank Lombardi (116-112) – scored that 12-rounder for Frampton on July 30 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Another judge, Guido Cavalleri, scored it even (114-114).

Frampton (23-0, 14 KOs) and Santa Cruz (32-1-1, 18 KOs) made their New York debuts in that bout.

While Frampton will fight for the first time in Las Vegas on Saturday night, Santa Cruz, of Rosemead, California, has fought seven times in Las Vegas since making his pro debut 11 years ago. Santa Cruz fought four straight times at MGM Grand Garden Arena from March 2014-May 2015.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has assigned three veteran judges – Burt Clements, Glenn Feldman and Dave Moretti – to score the Frampton-Santa Cruz rematch at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Clements was among the three judges that scored Andre Ward a 114-113 winner over Sergey Kovalev on November 19 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Moretti credited Abner Mares with a 116-111 victory against Jesus Cuellar, whom Mares beat by split decision December 10 in Los Angeles.

Feldman most recently scored the James DeGale-Badou Jack fight 114-112 for DeGale. The other two judges – Julie Lederman and Steve Weisfeld – scored it 113-113, which rendered that 12-rounder a majority draw January 14 at Barclays Center.
