Shurretta Metcalf is frustrated with the International Boxing Federation (IBF) after losing the bantamweight title and then not hearing from the sanctioning body since.

Metcalf returns Saturday against Krystal Rosado at the Convention Center in South Padre Island, Texas. The bout will be her first since losing her IBF bantamweight title to Cherneka Johnson.

“They are not communicating with us at all,” Metcalf said. “We are now sending a certified letter since somebody has to sign for it just to verify that they received my question about my situation. They are not returning my calls or responding to previous letters.”

Metcalf’s dissatisfaction with the IBF also stems from her defeat of Miyo Yoshida in 2024. Metcalf’s journey to a title was nearly improbable as she started her career 2-3 (1 KO). After a loss to Danielle Bennett in 2022, she went on a career-best run in which she won four fights in a row, including two wins over Yoshida and a win over veteran Melissa Oddessa Parker.

“They had a conference for all of their world champions, and I never got an invitation,” Metcalf said. “I didn’t feel like I was treated like other champions.”

Metcalf now faces Rosado, who is managed by Amanda Serrano, and holds a record of 7-0 (2 KOs). Rosado, a 23-year-old from Carolina, Puerto Rico, last fought in July, outpointing Agustina Solange in a four-round fight. This will be Rosado’s first eight-round bout.

“She has never fought anyone like me,” Metcalf said. “I feel like I have to go in there and take the victory, like I have to go in there and knock her out.”
