There has been a ton of speculation since Golden Boy Promotions revealed that a major announcement was going to made regarding a new edition to Oscar De La Hoya's team as he prepares his December 6 fight with Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Some outlets have reported that Golden Boy's announcement will be the addition of unbeaten lightweight Edwin Valero as De La Hoya's sparring partner in Big Bear, California. That may very well be true, but according to The Los Angeles Times - that is not the major announcement
The Times reports that Hall of Fame trainer Angelo Dundee is being brought in as a consultant to De La Hoya and will join the Golden Boy team at the training camp in Big Bear. Dundee, 87, is best known for his work with legendary fighters Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard. He will assist De La Hoya's new trainer, Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain.
