Last Saturday at the Mohegan Sun, Sergio Mora broke away from being a "Contender" and became a champion by winning a majority decision to unseat Vernon Forrest for the WBC junior middleweight title.

Sources close to the WBC have indicated to MaxBoxing/BoxingScene.com that Mora has been mandated to face tough Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez. The sanctioning body wants negotiations to begin as soon as possible. They are not allowing any delays.

If Mora does not defend the title against Martinez, he will be stripped. Martinez has been waiting for his mandatory shot for quite some time. The only loss on Martinez's 45-fight record, was to Antonio Margarito in 2000.

Mora wants to fight Oscar De La Hoya, but a good source informed me that De La Hoya is not interested in a fight with Mora.
