Our good friends at TMZ advised me that Floyd Mayweather Jr. was sued on Monday for beat jacking. Musician Anthony Lawrence Dash claims Mayweather took his beat, remixed it, and then used it for his entrance music for his Wreslemania 24 appearance in March 2008. Mayweather is no stranger to legal battles. He faced several debt related lawsuits in 2009.
Dash's attorney filed documents Monday in South Carolina, claiming the beat was copyrighted in 2005. He claims to have sent Mayweather multiple cease and desist letters and they were all sent back, unopened. Dash has sued Mayweather, the W W E, and several others. He wants $150,000 to settle the case. Mayweather made a guaranteed $22.5 million for last Saturday's domination of Shane Mosley. I think he can handle the requested amount.
