THE second title defense of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia Pacific flyweight title, by highly world rated Rexon Flores, has been moved to a more accesible venue in Baguio City, Philippines on April 8.
In coordination with Elorde International Productions, co-promoters Tony Perlas of Red Lion Pub and Jay Sobrepeña decided to set Flores' anticipated exciting defense against top ranked and mandatory challenger Terdkiet Jundaeng (7-0, 5 KOs) at the Baguio Convention Center. The bout was previously set at Camp John Hay.
It will be the second time in seven months the historic venue of the world chess championship match between Anatoli Karpov and Viktor Korchnoi in 1978, will host a world class boxing event after Elorde's September 2005 promotion of three Philippine Boxing Federation title bouts.
The 5-foot-4 Filipino champ Flores has made one title defense in expense of durable Alwi Alhabsy of Indonesia on May 14, 2005 after the Cadiz-native fighter took the vacant regional title with a unanimous decision win over previously undefeated Aree Phosuwangym of Thailand in July of 2004 in Manila.
Flores, the country's brightest prospect in the 112-pound class, is rated No. 2 in the world under reigning WBO flyweight champ Omar Narvaez of Argentina.
Flores has a menacing 15-2-4 record, with 8 coming by way of knockout.
