EWS Arena in Goeppingen, Germany - It's been seven and a half years since his close loss to Czech enforcer Lubos Suda (23-6-1, 15 KOs), but former world champion Firat Arslan (31-5-1, 20 KOs) has finally avenged that disappointing blemish on his record. 40-year old Arslan did this in ferocious and impressive style, flooring his bitter rival four times en route to the convincing fifth-round stoppage.
The fight was all Arslan's from the very beginning. Suda, 33, behind a tight block of his own, tried to keep his head in safety but his nose was all red since the second. The Czech boxer tried to retaliate in spurts but was doing it with decreasing frequency with each fought minute.
Meanwhile, in round three the German started to dig down to the body of Suda and it showed the effects later in the fight. In the fourth round, the Czech was forced twice to take a knee after mean left hooks to the liver. Finally, in the fifth he was down twice more after the same punches in the corner. Suda bravely got up each time but he wasn't ready to go at the end and was counted out by Polish referee Grzegorz Molenda after the fourth trip to the floor. Sweet revenge for the German.
