Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao’s former manager Shelly Finkel who filed a case for breach of contract against Top Rank, promoter Bob Arum and Pacquiao himself says he too is trying to work out an out of court settlement of the lawsuit.
Finkel made the brief comment when Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today asked him about the status of the case he filed in New York, following the settlement reached between Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer and Top Rank’s Arum on all outstanding issues between the two promotional outfits. Finkel said "I am working out a settlement also."
In his suit Finkel alleged that Arum, Top Rank and Pacquiao concealed vital information from him which was effectively a breach of contract for which he was seeking damages.
Finkel’s high profile sports lawyer Judd Burstein who handled Pacquiao’s case against former promoter Murad Muhammad which resulted in an out-of-court settlement, filed
The case with the New York County Clerk’s Office.
The County Clerk’s Office informed Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today that the index number of the case was 602100-2007 but at the present time very little information was available.
