Three more Filipino boxers have suffered defeats in Thailand over the weekend with Rodel Orais being knocked out in the third round by former world flyweight champion Medgoen Singsurat (3K Battery), Mark Sales losing in what was a workout for WBC flyweight champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam and Erik Rapada being shutout in a six round bout against flyweight Fahpetchnoi Kratingdaenggym.
WBC Asian Boxing Council super flyweight champion Medgoen was decked with a cracking left by Arias in the very first round and desperately survived before dropping the Filipino with vicious right hooks to the head twice in round two. Medgoen had Arias in deep trouble and a series of vicious right hooks to the body sent the Filipino crashing to the canvas, writhing in agony to be counted out at 1:08 of the third round. Medgoen moved to 42-3 with 29 KO’s while Arias fell to 13-16-1.
It was the third consecutive KO loss suffered by Arias who was KO’d in round three by Sod Looknongyangtoy in a super bantamweight bout last June 3 after a fourth round TKO loss to Saenghiran Lookbanyai on March 28, also as a super bantamweight. Pongsaklek used Sales for a workout and controlled the six round affair to win by a shutout 60-54 against the Filipino who, according to the Bangkok Post dropped to 11-27-2 as against Pongsaklek’s 57-2 with 31 KO’s.
Fajpetchnoi upped his record to a perfect 9-0 with a lopsided 60-53 win over flyweight Erik Rapada who was also deducted a point for constant holding.
