In an unprecedented move Filipino boxing judge Salven Lagumbay has blasted his unidentified South Korean counterpart in the WBO Asia Pacific lightweight championship bout where the Philippines Czar Amonsot scored a split decision victory over Daun Chuang in Seoul, Friday.

Lagumbay, a journalist as well as a boxing judge assailed the unidentified Korean judge who scored the fight for his countryman 115-113 which contrasted sharply with Lagumbay who scored the fight for Amonsot by a lopsided 119-109 which meant that Amonsot, unbelievably,  won eleven of the twelve rounds.

Internationally respected referee and judge Bruce McTavish had what is believed to be a far more accurate scorecard, declaring Amonsot the winner 115-113.

In his critical article on the fight Lagumbay wrote “the Korean judge, apparently needing a deserved visit to the opthamologist, had his compatriot winning the fight.”

WBO Asia Pacific chairman Leon Panoncillo was quoted by Lagumbay as saying “it was actually a one-sided fight although exciting.”

With his big comeback win Amonsot improved his record to 18-2-1 with 10 knockouts. Out of shape and overweight, Amonsot lost his WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight title on the scales and was knocked out in the very first round by Indonesia’s Simon Butar Butar last September  23 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. However, this time around boxing patron Tony Aldeguer of the famed ALA Gym said  the 21 year old southpaw had “trained very hard, was disciplined and had changed a lot” which resulted in his impressive showing after moving up in weight to the 135 pound limit.

Chung who is also 21years old won the vacant Korean lightweight title with a 7th round KO of Sung Dae Kang last October 29. With the loss Chung dropped to 8-2 with 3 KO’s.
