Former three division world champion Fernando 'Kochulito' Montiel (46-4-2, 36KOs) turned 33 on Thursday, but the celebration, he said, will not take place until Saturday night in Mazatlan, Sinaloa - when he faces Indonesian Angky Angkota (25-6, 14KOs) in a ten round super bantamweight fight. In his first bout since losing a decision to countryman Victor Terrazas in November, Montiel wants to return in style.
"We could not celebrate [on Thursday], but hopefully we can celebrate on Saturday with a spectacular knockout over Angkota. I saw at the press conference that he was pretty confident of victory. I think Angkota has a style which could be a little difficult. I need to be careful, I need to stay focused and I need to have a lot of patience to put the icing on the cake by [knocking him out] before the ten round limit," Montiel said.
