The last man standing at 115-pounds, WBO super flyweight champion Fernando Montiel is ready and willing to fight WBC/WBA/IBF champ Vic Darchinyan. Last Saturday, Darchinyan knocked out Montiel's countryman, Cristian Mijares, to unify their three titles. After the win, he said he was willing to fight Montiel for all the marbles.
"Darchinyan says he is the executioner of Mexicans, but he never passed through me. I hope the fight happens so I can show that he is not the executioner of the Aztecs. Vic declared that he would like to face me. He doesn't have to look for me - here I am! If not, I will look for him. I believe that it would be a very good fight. He hits hard, without a doubt he is difficult, but I can win him," Montiel said to ESTO.
Then Montiel hit back at Jorge Arce, who recently called Montiel a nobody.
"He questions who I am? And I ask, who is Arce? I fought and beat very good boxers, but he takes the road to fame by acting like one, not by being a great fighter. If he really wants to know who I am, he can fight me. He doesn't want to fight me. I'll fight Mijares on Saturday night and Arce on Sunday morning and still beat him," Montiel said. "He lies and says that he's a champion. I won a real title, not an temporary one."
