Editor's Note - Alvaro Perez (21-3-1, 12KOs), also of Nicaragua, appears to be the finalized opponent for Montiel on August 20.
Nicaraguan boxer Eusebio Osejo (20-9-2, 7KOs) has advised the local press that he accepted an offer to face former world champion Fernando Montiel (45-3-2, 35KOs) on August 20 in Ensenada, Baja California. The fight is going to take place at a catch-weight of 124-pounds, according to Osejo's trainer. This year Osejo upset John Jackosn and Antonio Rodriguez.
"Osejo is training hard. He wants to beat Montiel and he is in very good condition. He left the gym at 127 pounds for a fight that is scheduled for 124 pounds," said his coach Ramon "Chino" Gutierrez.
Montiel's team has mentioned a ring return on August 20th, but Osejo was not mentioned as the finalized opponent.
