Mexico's Jose Felix Jr. (33-1-1, 25KOs) is crying out for an opportunity to face the Puerto Rican sensation Felix Verdejo (22-0, 15KOs).
Felix Jr. is insisting that Top Rank, who promote both boxers, finalize a fight against Verdejo to determine which one of them is in a better position to fight for a world title.
"Unfortunately I feel that all of the attention is being given to other boxers who have not done anything to deserve it, while I continue moving forward without seeing progress," said Felix to ESPN Deportes.
Felix feels very confident in his abilities to beat Verdejo. He feels the up and comer is being overhyped without merit.
"I love to fight him (Verdejo). He's a fighter who has given a lot of attention and I want to fight with him to demonstrate that I should be the one to have that attention. I'll beat him and I'll get the position that I deserve," Felix said.
Felix claims that he was scheduled to face Verdejo, but his handlers walked away from the fight earlier this year.
However, Ricky Marquez, manager and trainer of Verdejo, claims Felix overpriced himself and that was main factor in the fight falling apart. They are willing to fight him if the monetary demands are not substantial.
Verdejo is looking for a ring return on a date in September after knocking out Juan Martinez two weeks ago in New York City in an HBO televised co-feature to Vasyl Lomachenko's impressive knockout of Rocky Martinez.
"We can fight with him tomorrow if he wants," Marquez told Carlos Gonzalez "Felix is willing to fight anyone. If the economic requirements are not exorbitant, I see no problems in making this fight happen. We have no date [finalized for our return as of] yet, but it's being worked on."
