Puerto Rico's Felix Verdejo intends to add some talent to his team to relaunch his career, and the arrival of strength and conditioning trainer Memo Heredia is the most recent acquisition.

According to Heredia, he will arrive on Puerto Rican soil next Tuesday and he will immediately begin working with Verdejo and his coach, Ricky Marquez, with whom he hopes to achieve the ideal level of preparation so that Felix can think of fighting again for a championship.

A few weeks ago, Verdejo's manager and trainer Ricky Marquez told reporters that they wanted to add an experienced coach for Verdejo, so the arrival of Heredia could be that decision.

Verdejo is looking to recover his ground after suffering his first career defeat. He was stopped in what was a very unexpected upset, back in March at the hands of Antonio Lozada Jr.

Memo is hoping to reshape the boxer and bring him back to his best possible form.

"I will be arriving from Kazakhstan (where he's working with Beibut Shumenov) and on Tuesday I'll be heading for San Juan. His date is pending for September," Memo told ESPN Deportes.

"We already have a plan of work, medical exams will be done, physical preparations, the diet will be taken care of, and Marquez will be in charge of the boxing process. We hope to raise him physically, it is a matter of adapting and applying the willingness, and that fits the schedules and workload. My work is not easy, I like to demand a lot from my boys and I understand that he's a boy who likes work and I know we will not have problems.

"Physically we will provide a lot of conditioning, maintain speed and increase strength to avoid being empty in the last few rounds, which is important."
