Lightweight prospect Felix 'El Diamante' Verdejo is recovering from hand injury, but his next return is already being planned for the schedule. Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum has set aside November 21 in Puerto Rico.
Verdejo had surgery on his left hand on June 23 in Los Angeles by renowned hand specialist, Dr. Steven Shin. Verdejo raised his record to 18-0 and 13 knockouts with his win on June 13 against Mexico's Ivan 'Bam Bam' Najera.
"Everything is very positive and the doctor told us he did not envisage any problems," said Ricky Marquez, trainer and manager of Verdejo, to El Vocero.
"Right now Felix is not taking pain medications. The operation was a success, and as we said before, we now have to go three months without hitting it. We are being guided by those who know and those who are giving us the guidelines. We do not want to force or push anything. Health is important."
