On January 19, 2013 - Puerto Rican icon Felix "Tito" Trinidad will celebrate the fifth anniversary of his retirement. It will also mark the five year anniversary since Trinidad's last professional fight. Trinidad is hoping to secure his early entry, with a unanimous first ballot vote, into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, New York.

"That date marks the fifth anniversary of my retirement and I think I am eligible. I really hope that I gain first entry. I'm not under pressure. It's something that if it happens, it happens. I have the numbers to be in the Hall of Fame. Let's see what happenes when the time comes," Trinidad said.

Trinidad retired with a 42-3 record, with 35 knockouts. He won championships in three weight divisions - welterweight, junior middleweight and middleweight.  He suffered three career defeats, with only one loss inside the distance - Bernard Hopkins by TKO in 12 rounds (2001), decision loss to Winky Wright (2005), decision loss to Roy Jones Jr (2008).
