Former world super featherweight title challenger Mzonke Fana is South Africa’s hope of bringing back the IBF title which Malcolm Klassen lost in a twelve round unanimous decision to Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero in Houston, Texas last week.

Fana earned a crack at the title after he stopped fellow South African Jasper Seroka in six rounds in an IBF title eliminator for the mandatory challenger spot earlier this year.

Staging the Guerrero-Fana title fight should be no problem for respected award-winning international promoter Branco Milenkovic who handles Fana, Klassen and Cassius Baloyi who is also in the super featherweight mix. That's because of Milenkovic's close relationship Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions who handles Guerrero.

Meantime, South African boxing writer Bongani Magasela quoted Klassen as saying “No excuses. He (Guerrero) outsmarted me. I thought of calling it quits but I am still young at 28. I just need a break to be with my family.”

Klassen’s trainer Nick Durandt said Guerrero looked a totally different fighter against Klassen.

Milenkovic who co-promoted the Houston fight with De La Hoya said “let us wait and see what will be Klassen’s new rbating. He needs one or tnwo international fights and I will look at the gap to get him a shot at the title again.
