21-year old Russian featherweight Evgueny Smirnov (6-0, 2 KOs) continued his education a couple of hours ago with a solid decision over journeyman Angel Lorente (5-8-1, 3 KOs) in eight-rounder at Pabellón José Antonio Alemañ Valero, Santa Pola, Comunidad Valenciana, Spain.
Next for Smirnov, who is promoted by Andrey Ryabinskiy, is a fight on April 4, reportedly in Noginsk, Russia, for the WBC Youth crown against an opponent to be named. Candidates include fighters from Hungary and Philippines.
