According to a report in the Houston Chronicle, former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield has filed a lawsuit against promoter Don King. Holyfield is accusing King of failing to secure two fights per year as promised under a three-year contract, dated March 22, 2004.

Holyfield is asking the court either to find King in breach of the contract or to force him to post as a surety the minimum value of two fights under the second year of the contract, which Holyfield estimates the values at $500K per fight.

Holyfield claims that he has been ready to fight since June 2005 and King has failed to secure any fights for him. The contract between Holyfield and King expires this October.
