WBA superbantam champ Mayhar Monshipour defends the title against fomer WBA 118 lb ruler Julio Zarate from Mexico June 25 at the Futurescope in Poitiers. Monshipour, quoted in L´Equipe, says he wants to use the fight as a "tuneup" to set up a unification with WBC titlist Oscar Larios in the spring of 2006.
Sauerland Event have now re-scheduled the twice postponed fight for the vacant WBA I/C 168 lb title between Danilo Haussler and Cristian Sanavia for July 16 in Nuremberg. Also on the bill is WBA I/C 160 lb champ Artur Abraham. Already set is Vitaly Tsypko vs Brian Magee for the vacant 168 lb title with a possible defence by EBU middlweight ruler Morrade Hakkar against Sebastian Sylvester added.
French fly Brahim Asloum is already booked for a shot at the WBA fly title December 5 against Lorenzo Parra in Bercy. Asloum is likely to relinquish the EBU crown and have a final tuneup July 9. If he don´t he will have to face official challenger Ivan Pozo July 1 in Spain.
Lightweights Matt Zegan and Yuri Romanov, both very good, will square off for the vacant EBU title. Purse offers was to have been held today but the parties involved reached an agreement. It will be staged in Poland with exact date and site to be announced.
Heavyweight Jovo Pudar makes his European debut June 18 in Porvoo, Finland, on a show put on by Jannaxx Boxing. Opponent is Croatian Asmir Voinovic. Unbeaten middle Amin Asikainen takes on Romanian journeyman Mugurel Sebe while jr welter Juho Tolppola is in against Bulgarian Ivo Golakova.

Bo Ringholm, who among other things heads the Ministre of Sports in Sweden, paid the southern part of the country a visit the other day. Ringholm was adamant when asked about professional boxing. -We will keep the ban and eventually include K 1 in the law that prohibits professional boxing, said Ringholm according to the local edition of Expressen.
