French flyweight Brahim Asloum takes on Nicaraguan Miguel Tellez for the vacant WBA I/C 112 lb title on July 15 in Le Cannet. WBA light heavyweight champ Fabrize Tiozzo will appear in a non-title ten-rounder. Should all go well Tiozzo will make a defense of the title on September 30 in Lyon. Promoter Michel Acaries will present all details at a press conference in Lyon (Tiozzo´s hometown) June 28. Also on the bill is former EBU supermiddle ruler Jackson Chanet, to remain at 168 despite rumors of moving up, and Russian cruiser Valery Brudov. WBA female jr welterweight queen Miriam Lamare will again defend against Belinda Laracuente.
Spanish all-time great Young Martin passed on June 17 away at the age of 75 reports espabox.com. Martin, real name Martin Marco, was EBU champ four times during the 50´s at flyweight and also Spanish champ. In 1957 he challenged for the World title but was stopped by Pascual Perez in Buenos Aires.
Cruisers Marco Huck and Pietro Aurino have accepted nominations as co-challengers for the EU title left vacant by Ismail Abdoul.
Ukrainian heavy Vladimir Virchis, who challenge EBU champ Paolo Vidoz on July 15 on Universum´s big show at the Color Line Arena will arrive in Hamburg today (June 20)for final preparations.
Spotlight Boxing promotes a show at the Universum gym in Hamburg on July 25. With Universum staging shows July 15 - Sturm vs Castillejo - also in Hamburg and July 29 in Oberhausen - Erdei vs Ulrich - it sure looks like a hot July for German boxing.
