Russian heavyweight prospect Dennis Boytsov headlines Spotlight Boxing´s show at the Sportschule Sachsenwald on the outskirts of Hamburg on July 25. Boytsov takes on Brazilian Edson Cesar Antonio. Co-headlining is female flyweight Susianna Kentikian. The Pavel Melkomian vs Gregorz Drozd WBC Int´l titlefight at cruiserweight is cancelled due to an injury to Melkomian.
Jr middleweight Norman Schuster headlines SES´ show on August 19 in Halle/Saale and takes on Turgay Uzun for the vacant German title. IBF # 1 super middleweight challenger Robert Stieglitz will have what he hopes is the final tune up before challenging Joe Calzaghe.
WBA heavyweight champ Nikolai Valuev has left Berlin where he´s been through rehab training after knee surgery for St Petersburg and a few days vacation before he begins training for a planned defence in the US in the fall. Date, site and opponent is yet to be confirmed.
Boxfabrik Munich, headed by Roland Suttner, will do an outdoor show on Saturday night in Munich with around 20 fights on the bill. "It will be mainly a no-name show, two or three six-rounders and the rest over four" says Suttner, "The complete program is not set yet. There will be also music and dancing. It´s our main to make it a big boxing party."
German heavyweight champ Andreas was announced for the show but have pulled out. The show is sanctioned by the GBA.
Steel Ring have added comebacking Swedish cruiserweight Patrick Akerlund to its September 2 show in Oulu. Akerlund last fought in 99. As for opponent it seems like Patrick will be in tough right from the start as Russian Aleksander Kotlobay may be the one.
Kronk´s Norwegian fighter, jr welterweight Geir Inge Jorgensen, may finally make his US debut on August 4 in Miami, FL.
LA-based Swedish lightweight Shadi Hamsho, 7-0, will go for win number eight tomorrow (July 20) in Sacramento, CA. Hamsho is trained by Freddie Roach.
