French press writes that WBA 175 lb champ Fabrice Tiozzo have been hit by a virus and might be forced to pull out of his December 5 defense against Australian Paul Murdoch. Promoter Michel Acaries said earlier today, that he knew the champ was ill and that an official statement would come as soon as as he obtained a medical report.
Even with Tiozzo out the show, December 5 in Paris stands strong with three world title fights - Luis Parra vs Brahim Asloum, Omar Narvaez vs Bernard Inom at flyweight and Miriam Lamare vs Jane Couch at jr welter (females). Three Venezuelan prospects are featured on the undercard; welter Nelson Linares, lightweight Edwin Valero and feather Jose Rojas.
It will be Italian Michele Piccirillo and Czech Lukas Konecny that fight for the vacant EBU 154 title. Deadline for pursebids or agreements is set for December 20.
EBU flyweight champ Ivan Pozo, who defends the title on December 9 against Frank Gorjux, now has Italian Andrea Sarritzu as mandatory challenger.
