Former EBU middleweight champ Sebastian Sylvester takes on Frenchman Frank Mezaache on August 26 in Oldenburg in the chief support to Arthur Abraham´s defense of the IBF 160 lb title against Edison Miranda. Sylvester vs Mezaache is for the vacant WBA I/C crown. Added to the bill is Norwegian jr light Andreas Evensen, who thus joins stablemate Nikita Dubunin. TV 2 in Norway will televise the event.
Universum have canceled their planned September 16 show in Stuttgart that was to have featured heavyweight Luan Krasniqi and EBU light heavyweight champ Stipe Drews on top. As for why, Universum writes in a press release that Krasniqi turned down an offer to fight a highly ranked contender from the WBO ratings.
Italian-based Brit Peter Lerner will do a 24-hour walk come November to raise money for the Retired Boxer´s Foundation headed by the former Bronx Bomber, Alex Ramos. Lerner, a writer and English teacher, was recently named RBF´s Italian representative. He´s now looking for sponsors and donators for his walk. Check out retiredboxers.org for more info.
EBU jr middleweight champ Michele Piccirillo will do another voluntary defense of the title in October. Piccirillo´s official challenger is Frenchman Husseyn Bayram.
