Hammer Knockout Promotions of Poland closed the season on July 1 in Kosir with a sold out show (2000+ spectators) despite fierce competition from the quarterfinals of the World Cup in soccer on TV.
On top, cruiserweight Pawel Kolodziej scored an easy win over Slovakian Adrian Rajkaj and won the vacant WBC Youth title. Krzysztof Wlodarczyk floored Romanian Mircea Telecam twice for a first round stoppage and light heavyweight Dawid Kostecki knocked out German Andreas Guenther in the second. Hammer Knockout´s team of fighters will now have a summer break but will head for a training camp in the Polish mountains late July. The first show of the new season could happen on August 26, but is not confirmed.
German welterweight Michel Trabant, who tested positive for taking an illegal substance (rumored to some kind of anabolic steroid) after winning over Marco Cattikas on May 6 in Duesseldorf have now confessed and admitted he is quilty and Universum have put out a press release on the matter. Trabant face a suspension from the German Federation for a year (possibly more) and will lose his position as a mandatory challenger for EBU champ Frederik Klose´s title. Trabant, 43-2, turned pro as a 16-year old in 1995 and won the EBU title in 2002. He put up an exellent fight against Jose A Rivera for the vacant WBA welterweight title in 2003, but lost a close call.
Croatian heavyweight Mario Preskar has a spot on the undercard on DKP´s big show in St Louis, MO, on July 8.
Daniel Petrucci and Giamario Grassellini clash for the vacant Italian welterweight title on July 14 in Rome.
Latvian heavyweight Edgar Kalnars is off Elite Box Promotion´s on July 14 show in Potsdam so lightheavy Andreas Kempe takes centerstage on his own and face Mayala Mbungi.
