Promoter Gerard Teysseron and his EuroProm was the sole bidder at the purse bids today for EBU super middle champ Callum Simpson's mandatory defense against Kevin Lele Sadjo, 26-0 (23 KOs).

Date and site is to be announced but it is not likely that this fight will take place. A more likely scenario is that Simpson, 18-0 (13 KOs) relinquishes the title and moves on while Lele Sadjo will face the highest-ranked available challenger for the vacant title.

WBO European and WBA Gold heavyweight Nelson Hysa, 23-0 (21 KOs), defends the titles October 10 in Tirana (Albania) against undefeated Croatian Abel Pesut, 16-0 (16 KOs) on a show put on by Italian OPI since 82.

The 41-year “Albanian Eagle” is managed by Warren Boxing Management and has done everything right since turning pro in 2022 but there isn't a single ‘name’ on his record. He is still mentioned as a possible opponent for WBC Interim champ Agit Kabayel.

The 35-year-old Abel Pesut holds the Croatian title but once again the lack of ‘names’ stand out on his record.

Former WBA featherweight champion Cecilio “Uco” Lastra has passed away at age of 74. Lastra is reported to have suffered from bad health for a number of years and had a leg amputated.

Lastra turned pro in 1975, won the Spanish title four times, challenged unsuccessfully for the EBU title twice but won the WBA crown with a split decision win over Panamanian Rafael Ortega in 1977.

In his first defense, in Panama City, he lost the title to all-time great Eusebio Pedroza on April 15, 1978 when stopped in the 13th round.

Lastra continued his career but lost to Frenchman Maurice Apeang in Papeete in French Pölynesia in 1979.

The EBU title fights followed, and Lastra came up short against Roberto Castanon twice in all-Spanish matchups.

Ceciliio Lastra retired in 1982 with a record of 39-13-2.
Espabox reports that in Cuato where Lastra lived, the sports hall bears his name and he also has a star on the Walk of Fame in Santander.
